Description
The Weber cooking grate is made of porcelain-enameled cast-iron and fits the Genesis Silver B and C and Spirit E-310 gas grill. The porcelain enamel is cooked into the cast iron to prevent the rust but it still really feels and looks like regular cast iron.

Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great Cooking Grate   2010-06-11
By T. MacDonald (Westminster, MA USA)
I have had this grate for almost 1 year now. It works fantastic. It takes a couple of minutes longer to heat up than the original grate (which I had for 8 years until it rusted out), but cooks the food much better. It cleans up well also. The item arrived in excellent condition and the grate fit exactly as advertised in the description. I would even recommend if you just bought a webber grill with factory standard grate, throw them out and go with this grate you will not regret it. I cook on this grate 4-6 times a week and it still looks new. The grate stays much hotter than the factory grate and delivers great steaks, chicken and fish etc. much faster saving a little in gas costs. By saving a little in gas you can upgrade to a better quality of steak even better.

I have a Weber Genesis Silver B that I have had for about 6 years. In those 6 years I have gone through 2 sets of the Porcelain-Enamel Cast Iron Cooking Grates. Both times they succumbed to rust but that's partly because I am not good about putting the grill cover on and sometimes let the grill get way to hot for too long. In fact after I write this I am off to Home Depot to buy my 3rd set (sorry Amazon I want them today). I once tried the stainless steel when I accidentally grabbed them instead of the cast iron when I was replacing them for the 2nd time, but after one grilling I dumped them. They just didn't cook as well or leave those classic grill marks like cast iron.
Customer rating is 3 of 5  Porcelain-Enameled or Lost Quality and Cheaper to make!   2010-05-15
By John L. Minerich (New England)
The original grates were shiny with a thick coating of Porcelain to protect, and make easy to clean and prevent from rusting. Recent Weber grills and replacement grates are dull, and look like bare cast iron. Has anyone had any issues with these new grates being hard to keep clean, or any evidence of rust?

My original grills finally got rust holes so they went to the scrap pile. I had already replaced the flavorizer bars (V bars over burners) with aftermarket stainless steel. So I had the choice to go with stainless grate or cast iron. After some research I chose the cast iron and I am glad I did. They are more expensive than stainless and take a bit longer to pre-heat....but I think worth it. I got these during the middle of winter so I haven't done a lot of grilling but what I have done turned out nice. The only negative is the space between the bars is slightly wider than the stamped grates. So a small fish fillet may fall through after you cook it if you put it directly on the bars. steaks and pork is perfect. My Grill is the Weber Genesis Silver C and the grates were a perfect fit.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Cast Iron is a Great Grate!   2009-06-28
By Ivan D. Hafley (Frisco, Texas)
This cast iron Weber grate is a a replacement for the original cast iron grate on my Weber Genesis Silver B grill, which lasted through countless steaks, hamburgers, etc. for six years, and it has restored the grill to a new grilling life! In my opinion, cast iron grates work much better for grilling than other types, such as stainless steel, porcelain, etc. I don't know if this is still the case, but when I bought my grill the only place you could find a Weber with a cast iron grate was Home Depot. However, wherever you find them, I highly recommend Weber grills with the cast iron grates!
