Exciting flavors contain an assortment of vanillas of changing degrees of richness, several excellent chocolates, Butter Pecan, Sensational Strawberry, Peaches 'n' Cream, Utterly Peanut Butter and Double Ginger to mention only a sampling. For an more flourish, there's a collection of ice creams together with add-ons -- swirls and twirls, sauces and toppings. There is even an entire chapter of excellent reduced-fat light ice creams and nonfat frozen yogurts together with names like Creamy Banana, Cappuccino, Date Rum and Maple Crunch. Many fully fat-free frozen delights are covered in the chapter called "Sorbets, Granitas and Other Ices." Enticing and refreshing, they come in flavors such as Kiwi-Lime, Mango Margarita, Spiced Rasberry and Strawberry Daquiri. And for showstopping, truly fabulous desserts, made fully in advance, turn to the last chapter, which contains ice cream cakes, pies and other frozen desserts. |

The Best Ice Cream Maker Cookbook Ever 2010-07-27 |
| By Brenda R. Freeze (Charlotte, NC) |
This GREAT Ice Cream Recipe Book has hundreds of Homemade Ice Cream recipes! I haven't actually made any of them yet, but just the variety to choose from is fantastic! We bought a new White Mountain Churn and we broke it in with our old recipe we've made for years that you don't cook, and you don't use eggs, it's quick, and it's great! The secret is Eagle Brand Condensed Milk!
My only problem is that we have a 6-quart freezer (1 1/2 gallons), and most of the recipes are 5 cups, 2 quarts, etc., so you have to multiply the ingredients to get 6-quarts. There are a number of recipes I can't wait to try!!
On the other hand you have even smaller recipes that you can put in the refrigerator-freezer. There are also Frozen Yogurt recipes you can make in this little book as well as sauces for your frozen desserts!

Didn't know making ice cream was so hard! 2010-07-22 |
| By Lisa Miller (Hutley, IL, US) |
| Bought a Kitchen Aid ice cream bowl for my husband and this book. After looking at the recipies, I realized what a poor choice I had made. Dumb me, I thought you just put some milk/cream, fruit or other ingredients into the bowl, mixed it with the Kitchen Aid and had ice cream. My husband wanted to make french vanilla so he slaved over the stove for at least an hour, then had to do more things to actually create the final product. It's a lot easier to just buy Breyers! |
Pretty much the same as others 2010-06-01 |
| By R. G. Lasher (Newark, DE) |
I have bought several books on ice cream making and have been making lots of ice cream since Christmastime 2009. I have been working to perfect a recipe for sugar free ice cream and found nothing of assistance. I have found lots of recipes online and lots of assistance in unpublished sources, but very little in the books.
Perhaps when I have perfected my own recipes, maybe I'll have to write my own book. |
Terrific Book! 2010-03-22 |
| By Rockin' Robin (CT) |
This book is wonderful. It has all the standard, well-loved ice cream recipes that you want in an ice cream book. Vanilla, Chocolate, ice cream cakes, custard-based or non-custard based, frozen yogurt or sorbet, they are absolutely delicious! I look forward to trying the cinnamon and pumpkin ice creams, especially during the holidays! The recipes are very easy to follow, and make about 1 to 1-1/2 quarts of ice cream per batch. It's ice cream that simply cannot be beat! I think it's a bargain for the price. I also purchased the Cuisinart Ice cream maker and love how easy it is to clean, and is much quieter to operate than the Rival I had.

Not what I expected 2010-02-01 |
| By C. Schrader (Pennsylvania) |
| I bought this book based on other reviews, but was disappointed when I received it. I really prefer to see some pictures when looking at a cookbook and there are none in here. I also did not realize every recipe in the book requires cooking before making the ice cream. I don't want to take the extra time to mix and cook, cool, and then make ice cream. I have returned the book for that very reason. If you have the time for the extra steps you might like this book. |
